Encapsulated O-ring materials

There are several combinations of materials available and the application itself should determine the choice. We are happy to give advice on selection of materials so please do not hesitate in contacting Fluid Seals.

Viton FEP encapsulated o-ring Viton ® Core with FEP Jacket This choice gives the best possible sealing characteristics due to the very low compression set value of the specially formulated Viton® core. Unless there are extreme high or low temperature involved, Viton ® core should be the first choice. -20 to +204°C.
Silicone FEP encapsulated o-ring Silicone Core with FEP Jacket Whilst technically inferior to Viton® as a seal material, Silicone does have the ability to work at lower temperatures than Viton®. -60 to +204°C.
Viton PFA encapsulated o-ring Viton ® Core with PFA Jacket The only advantage of this combination is the extra abrasion resistance of the PFA jacket. -20 to +204°C.
Silicon PFA encapsulated o-ring Silicone Core with PFA Jacket Whilst technically inferior to Viton® as a seal material, Silicone does have the ability to work at lower temperatures than Viton®. -60 to +260°C.
Hollow FEP encapsulated o-ring Hollow Silicone Core with FEP Jacket Used in applications where low loading requirements are necessary, i.e. glassware or similar delicate equipment. The seal compresses easier than a solid core ring. -60 to +204°C.
Hollow PFA encapsulated o-ring Hollow Silicone Core with PFA Jacket Again the same applications as above but capable of higher temperatures. -60 to +260°C.
Spring steel encapsulated o-ring For cryogenic applications at temperatures in the range -250 °C to +260°C Encapsulated O-rings are available with a stainless steel spring energiser. The spring is manufactured from precision rolled stainless high-strength steel that provides high compression set resistance.
